Bearing in mind that cache and some other app data could cause apps not to function properly, I headed straight to 'Settings', scrolled on till I got to 'Applications'. Some phones will have it simply as 'Apps'.
On getting there I found all the apps on that phone so I headed straight to the one I had to work on. That's Messenger.
I located the Messenger app, clicked on it and there found various options like uninstall, clear data, clear cache and so on. 'Clear Data' and 'Clear Cache' were the two I needed to experiment with. I tapped on 'Clear Cache' option, then later on 'Clear Data' after which I confirmed the action.
With all these done, I launched Messenger and behold, old things were passed away. It was up again and she could once again view and reply to her messages. I have tried out this same procedure for a similar issue and it still worked, so it is at least ninety-seven percent reliable.
